We've spent a lot of time covering Todd Goldstein, aka Brooklyn's ARMS. After labelling him and his band "one of CMJ's most promising acts" in 2009, you can be sure Arms will also be one of the highlights of this year's South By Southwest Festival.

So we were delighted to check in on him and his preparations for world domination:

1) How many times have you been to SxSW?

This will be my 3rd SXSW, and ARMS' 2nd. Gets better every time.

2) What's the best thing about being in Austin? Or if you've not been before.... What are your tourism related plans?

I'm sure this is what everyone says, but goddamn the food in Austin is incredible. The BBQ, the breakfast tacos... it's all i need to get by. My only non-music-playing plans for Austin include chorizo, brisket, and maybe catching one band performance. The last one's optional.

3) Why are you playing SxSW? ('Cos we hear the money isn't too good)

It's an incredibly good time - I love playing live, and getting to do so 7-8 times over 4 days is a dream. Also, I hear the President of Music walks around the festival handing out record contracts - maybe, if we're lucky, he'll hear us play and put us on Easy Street for life!

4) Who are you showcasing for, and where and when can we expect to see you?

We're playing shows for a couple of blogs we love -- including NYC's Wild Honey Pie and LA's Rawkblog -- and you can peruse all of our dates/times here:

5) Which other bands/artists are you most looking forward to seeing over music week?

Oy, I dunno -- I never get to see any of the bands I really want to see while we're in Austin. I am really excited to catch up with our LA buddies Pepper Rabbit, though - they put out a wonderful record this year and have been touring non-stop, I'm sure their live shows have gotten pretty insane.

6) Will you visit the Film or Interactive sections of SxSW this year? Or is time tight?

I wish! Alas, we'll probably miss all the moving pictures.

7) What does the rest of 2011 hold for you?

We'll be finishing our record by the end of March, putting it out (hopefully) in the fall, and somewhere in there taking a fruitful dinner meeting with the President of Music, who will anoint ARMS his new favourite band, treat us like the sons he never had, and put us on the television like we've always dreamed. Hi mom!
