The Cure Confirm Aussie Dates

14th June 2007 | by Gavin Riley

The Cure look like making good on a promised return after announcing a few arena dates in Australia as well as a headline slot for the Download Festival in the U.S.A.

They'll play five dates across Australia in August in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and finally Melbourne, and a date as yet unconfirmed in Auckland, New Zealand.

Already lined up is the Fuji Festival in Japan, and two other dates in Hong Kong and Singapore.

The Download Festival in America continues to go from strength to strength (British organisers take note), and the fourth festival which takes place in Chicago will now definitely feature The Cure who'll headline a set that includes A.F.I, Kings of Leon and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

The only question we need to ask of the organisers is, how on earth can you put A.F.I on the bill ahead of Kings of Leon.

But getting back to the subject matter of hand, The Cure have been writing and recording for the past year now, and Robert Smith has promised the new album will be similar to the style of 'Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me'.

Album details are scarce, but we'll keep you posted, although the band do promise a few dates in other countries soon.
