The Arcade Fire Vow Nottingham Embargo

02nd November 2007 | by Aidan Williamson

Like most people in Britain, The Arcade Fire vowed last night that they would never return to Nottingham after the crowd started throwing items at the band, one of which struck vocalist Win Butler.

The concert, which took place at the Nottingham Arena on Wednesday night (31/10) was interrupted during their rendition of Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out) when an object which has been described as either a bottle, or a shoe, hit Butler in the face.

The singer then reworked the lyrics on the fly to call out the assaulter, singing Where'd you go? / No seriously/ Where'd you go you fucker?. However the band continued to play on. It was only during the encore of Rebellion (Lies) that Butler snapped, after another hefty item was thrown at the band, he lambasted the crowd by saying We'll never play Nottingham again.

A sad loss for Nottingham, one less bottle for Razorlight and Fall Out Boy, truly, a sad day all 'round.
