Beloved alternative rock legends Sonic Youth have announced a concert at London's Scala next Monday (April 27) with tickets going on sale tomorrow: (April 21) a mere six days beforehand.

Fans, in exchange for the princely sum of £25 (plus booking fee), will be able to catch Messieurs Moore, Ranaldo, Ibold, Shelly and Mademoiselle Gordon in the flesh. The quintet will undoubtedly be previewing material from their imminent new offering The Eternal which is expected on June 9, 2009.

The first indication as to direction of the new album was made available by their label, Matador, in the form of a free-of-charge MP3 which you can download by click Sonic Youth: Sacred Trickster.mp3.

Those pre-ordering the new album from selected retailers (see Buy Early Get Now for details) will be treated to early access to the album via a stream from April 28 as well as exclusive live vinyl LP recorded in New York, an exclusive poster and pre-sale access to the band's shows in the States.

The band have been also confirmed to play at the My Bloody Valentine-curated ATP Nightmare Before Christmas to be held at Butlins Holiday Resort in Minehead from December 4th - 6th, 2009.
