Radiohead To Stop Pulling Radioheads

30th April 2008 | by Aidan Williamson

In a rather abrupt decision which is comparable to declaring that the world is actually flat after all, Radiohead have announced that they will be returning to their typical business model for future releases.

Yes. It was a one-off response to a particular situation, answers frontman Thom Yorke when questioned about the nature of the experiment.

"It was one of those things where we were in the position of everyone asking us what we were going to do. I don't think it would have the same significance now anyway, if we chose to give something away again. It was a moment in time."

In case your rock-based abode was particularly isolated last year, the band released most recent album "In Rainbows" on a 'pay what you want' basis which let fans decide how much they thought the download was worth. (between zero and one-hundred pounds) The Radiohead camp have been reluctant to release details of the level of success which the experiment enjoyed, but considering that a similar move by Nine Inch Nails made them overnight millionaires, it's unlikely that the pay-off was too disappointing.

Nevertheless, the model will not be repeated, leaving other artists to do a 'Radiohead' while Radiohead themselves do a.... wait, what do they do again?
