Portishead Impressed By Radiohead 'Rip' Off

13th June 2008 | by Amber Clements

Portishead's long awaited album 'Third', released only a few months back, has without doubt fallen into the hearts of many, impressing in so many ways. It seems one of 'Third's' most avid fans happen to be Radiohead.

Radiohead have been covering Portishead's 'The Rip' live at a number of gigs recently and have put out an acoustic version of the track on their website.

Portishead proclaimed to be very excited and humbled about the cover, although Adrian Utley only found out about it when Radiohead's Colin Greenwood e-mailed him. Whilst talking to BBC 6Music Utley confirmed:

"Colin from the band e-mailed me to say they had been playing it and that they'd put it up on their site of them playing it in the dressing room - Thom and Jonny, Thom sounds beautiful singing it, it was amazing, such a buzz."

Utley also confirmed the news that Portishead have no further tour plans for this year, but we suppose we should let them off as we did wait ten years for 'Third'.
