Massive Attack's forthcoming LP 'Heligoland' is still just under a week away from release (Feb 8th) but the Bristol duo are already talking up a new EP that's set to feature songs that didn't quite make it onto the new album.
Speaking to BBC6 Music, Robert '3D' Del Naja spoke out about the new mini-release which is tentatively due in May. He stated:
"It will probably be made up of tracks that we didn't put on this record, and maybe some new stuff as well. We've got this one… which we wrote with Guy (Garvey, of Elbow), which we’ve been playing live for two years and we still can’t finish it. I really don’t know if it will get finished. To be honest, I still can’t make the promise it will be finished because it seems to be a really evasively hard thing to capture. Some songs are like that. Some happen instantly and some continually trouble you.”
The Garvey-featuring track he mentioned goes by the name of Red Light and pairs with the Heligoland track Flat Of The Blade which Garvey sings on.
Another reason to look forward to this coming Summer then. We'll keep you updated on more news of the EP as it's announced.
