All photogenic front-women beware, you are not irreplaceable, you are not the bright shining centre of the band able to do whatever you like without consequence.
First Tarja Turunen of Nightwish found this out, now it's Amy Lee's turn.
Two years of turmoil have racked the Christian-rock band after Lee pulled an Axl Rose and forced out or fired everybody in the band who wasn't her. Saddest of all was the case of founding guitarist John LeCompt, who was told via a phone call that his services would no longer be required.
When sued by former manager Dennis Rider for breach of contract after he was also fired, she countered by accusing him of sexual assault, battery, fraud, professional negligence and stuck the knife in further by claiming that Rider merely used the band to cheat on his wife.
With dark days behind, the rest of Evanescence are looking to the fututre and have signed up American Idol finalist Carly Smithson to front their band. Since Lee still technically owns the rights to the band name, they will be recording under the new name Fallen.
Original songwriter for Evanescence Ben Moody will also rejoin the boys and girl, the only non-returnee is bassist Will Boyd, who retired from music in 2006 to spend more time with his family.
The band are promising downloads of new material featuring Smithson on vocals come Monday (June 22) via their official website.
I take a week off and now we're covering Evanescence. And we have a huge Fox logo on a picture.
Its a sad day... However one can but mock.
Christian Rock, American reality shows, Fox: what's not to like.
I always find these kind of ego trips entertaining, the Nightwish one was almost legendary.
Besides, I recall someone doing a story on G4 once :-D
I dont:

What are you, a 'Ministry of Truth' employee?
And if you would check the Evanescence website itself, you would see that Evanescence is NOT dead, but are writing material to be released next year.
Thank you Aidan! Finally, somebody wrote the real story!
I hope The Fallen kick ass and Amy Lee becomes a mere footnote in the band's history.
dude, really, why do you bring Tarja's name into this? The story behind her depart from Nightwish is far more complex than you want to let us know, but yeah, thanks a lot, keep up feeding the ignorant version Mr. Holopainen fed everybody with. really, thanks a lot.
