Cut Copy recently celebrated the great success that was their third album "In Ghost Colours" and plan to capitalise upon said good results with some extensive touring.
The album sailed to number one in their domestic (Australian) charts back at the end of March this year. The commercial triumph of the album has also afforded the Melbourne based act a few new opportunities when it comes to the live show.
Frontman Dan Whitford explains, "This year is pretty much non-stop touring, and we're just settling in for the ride. We've got a fairly big production, with lights and a whole stage show ready to go."
While not such a huge success in the States, the album has, nonetheless, shifted a sizeable 24,000 copies and the trio note that the momentum is building. "We've noticed there's been a lot of the same crowds coming along to see us again and again. It's like you get a reward for touring and going back to play for people. Our audiences have grown from each show that we've done. I think its one of those things where you build a following from the ground up."
Finally, speaking about a follow-up to 'Ghost', the band volunteered that "It's not going to happen for at least another nine months. We've got non-stop touring until early next year. We'll see after that. We're always thinking about ideas we might want to draw on for the next record. I don't think we'll get a chance to sit in a room and write stuff until next year."
