Bright Eyes For Barack Obama

With the decision of who will be running for president hanging in the balance over the next month, the artillery is being brought to the frontlines.

Democrat candidate Barack Obama looks set to make a deep impression on the youth of America by gaining the support of alt. country artist Conor Oberst aka Bright Eyes. The singer made an appearance during a rally for the politician on January 1st in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where Oberst performed a short set.

He then addressed those in attendance by saying, “I met the next president of the United States earlier today.”

Clearly Oberst is working on those psychic skills of his. He is however, no stranger to politics. As the subject matter of Bright Eyes shifted from the deeply personal to the politically critical, Oberst became increasingly critical of the Bush administration, culminating in the fierce outward attack of “When the President Talks to God” which, handily, you can see below. Personally, we're waiting to see who the Dixie Chicks are supporting.
