Leona Lewis has swiped the record of the fastest-selling debut album by a British act. Her album 'Spirit' notched up some 375,000 copies over the course of the past week.
That's 12,000 copies more than the Arctic Monkeys LP 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'. Lewis is still some way short of beating the overall record for a debut release. Oasis' 'Definitely Maybe' looks secure with its 813,000 copies sold.
Lewis maintains her grip on the U.K charts with not just the the top album, but also her single 'Bleeding Love' maintains the top position in the U.K Singles Chart.
In other chart news, Led Zeppelin went in at number four in the Album Charts, with their latest offering 'Mothership'., and will also be celebrating their legendary hit, 'Stairway to Heaven' finally making it into the Singles Chart, some 36 years after release.
Meanwhile, The Killers have notched up their third Top 10 album with the release of 'Sawdust', a B-Sides and rarities album, which went in at number seven.
