Is it better to enter a show with high expectations and to have them met, or is it better to go in with no expectations and to have them resoundingly blown out of the water? Such is the question that has plagued mankind for at least five minutes or so.
Philadelphian quartet Innerpartysystem first breached our radar when their rather impressive E.P flew onto our desks. Judging from their high-octane songs which mix pulsing electronic with blasts of full-on rocking goodness, we thought it wouldn't hurt to check them out. That decision turned out to be the best choice since Sisyphus decided to invest in a ski lift.
Despite his penchant for black hoodies which barely reveal anything in the way of facial detail, frontman Patrick proved to be anything but shy, letting out an uproarious performance, equal parts passion to brutal.
That the rest of the boys were cranking out supercharged beats with the power of sixty men didn't hurt much either. These boys, we very much hope, will prove to be ones to watch in 2008. If not for impending fame, for artistic excellence. Neither would surprise us.
