Photos, Live Review: Tellison @ Birmingham Bar Academy

If you didn't know their name before, you sure will after a gig, since this band interlude practically every song with "We're Tellison by the way". They needn't bother, the music is memorable enough by itself.

As per usual, Birmingham has managed to rustle up a superior local band to get the ball rolling. Kidnapper Bell are first up with their art-punk, as played in a colossal tunnel system which just happens to have a rather powerful electronics system. Yeah, the metaphor kinda died there didn't it. Kidnapper Bell, more powerful than the feeble simile, decimater of hyperbole, pwning allegories wherever they go, or something to that effect.

All of this, is of course, in honour of the twenty date tour which Tubelord and Tellison are putting on together. An event marked by the release of split 7" single "Wasps Nest / Night of the Pencils".

It might just be because these were our favourite tracks going in, but "Tender is the Night", "Hanover Start Clapping" and "New York, New York" sound good enough to be the last sounds you ever hear. Although even more disturbingly, the crowd favourites are somewhat marginalised by the new material the band are showcasing tonight.

Nice photos there, shame they're a bit buggy and not in order. Had to laugh though at number nine, a mullet and a dudley t-shirt, he looks ridiculous! Lols

Tellison are one of those bands who everybody says are good, but then you never get round to giving them a thorough listen. That's some impressive photography there Aiden, though i dont see the funny side to photo number nine Cathy? (Mullet aside)

ITs the Dudley t-shirt, not sure where ur from but its tantamount to wearing a New Jersey T-shirt and being proud of it...... unless of course he was being ironic? :->

Sadly I cannot claim credit for the photography. I just did the write-up and photo processing. One of our staffies handled the camera, I'll pass on your regards though :)
