Jonny3snares Live @ Miss Peapods

Photos, LIVE Review: Jonny3snares @ Miss Peapods, Penryn

23rd April 2008 | by Theo Ellington

Yet again Miss Peapods thankfully managed to bring in an interesting bunch of musicians who together put on a dazzling array of glittery messed up electronics.

Providing the night with its prescription of live visuals was Fata Morgana whose projections provided a nice backdrop to the two main sets ranging from destroyed and reconstructed versions of 'Alice in Wonderland' to basic old-school morphing graphs.

First to rise to the stage was Tripledot who began in quite simplistic manner keeping himself in the background for the first few tracks but by the the end of his performance the tempo had risen considerably and the engaging beats he extolled took on a real ferocity as he controlled his various synths as if they were extensions of his own body members.

Up to the stage then approaches Jonny3snares to step behind another one of the several laptops that had entertained the stage from the outset. For what little equipment johnny had, just a laptop and midi-controller he managed to make various layers, colossal in the amount of intelligently broken up and reconstructed sounds. The music that he pushed out of his trusty kit projected massive noise-scapes which sounded as though, should they so desire, could destroy the very speakers they emanated from. Then, proving his diversity Jonny3snares effortlessly switches the mood with his electronics bringing to the surface a cool vibe which brought the night to a conclusion.
